According to Saint John’s Abbey’s own records, at least eighteen priests from Saint John’s Abbey were assigned to St. Anselm’s and St. Benedict’s in the Bronx between 1939 and 1976.
Lawsuit details abuse by Fr. Tim Kelly
A.W. Richard Sipe, a former monk at St. John’s who has worked on numerous cases of clergy sex abuse nationwide, said at a news conference Tuesday that he spoke to the man who is alleging the abuse and that there were “four to 12 other students” who were friends of the man who also had been sexually abused at St. Anselm’s.

Since the New York Post article regarding former Abbot Timothy Kelly (below) was published on June 7, 2011, other stories of abuse and misconduct have been shared. “Fr. Tim” as Timothy Kelly was known in the late 60′s wasn’t the only abusive priest at St. Anselm. Fr. Howard and Fr. Agustin were also abusing CYO members, altar boys and other vulnerable targets.
